Wen Shan Bao Zhong
A lightly fermented, lightly roasted oolong with floral accents that remind me of spring in the Alps. Ping lin area of Wen Shan is renowned for its high quality Bao zhong.
Gao Shan or High Mountain Oolong
There are many high quality High Mountain teas, such as Ali Shan and Li Shan. They are particularly prized for their delicate aromas and sweet floral flavours; they are produced from bushes growing 1500 metres or more above sea level.
Dong ding Oolong
Dong ding or icy peak oolong is produced in the lu-gu area of Nantou county in the center of Taiwan. This tea reminds me of wild blackberries on warm days in late summer.
Tie Guan Yin
A beautiful tea named after an iron statue of the Goddess of Mercy. The tea producers of Taiwan have a knack of teasing out the most wonderful flavours. Although of similar fermentation to Dong ding this tea has been further roasted to develop warm autumnal aromas.
Oriental Beauty
Bai Hao or White tipped oolong known as Oriental Beauty from the late 1800’s. Today I have also heard it called the ‘Champagne’ of teas. The name is well deserved – a more highly fermented tea the aromas linger pleasantly on the palate.
